Study In Finland: Aalto University Scholarship For Graduates Today
During the Master’s admissions process, scholarships are allocated as part of the academic evaluation phase for each degree program. The best candidates subject to tuition fees may receive the scholarship. Detailed academic evaluation criteria can be found on the respective study option websites.
The number of scholarships available per degree program is limited and depends on the overall selection of non-EU/EEA students for that program.

Scope of Scholarship
Aalto University scholarships cover either 50% (Category B) or 100% (Category A) of the tuition fee, granted as tuition fee waivers. Currently, the university does not provide scholarships for living expenses in Finland. Students are expected to cover their own living expenses, approximately 800 euros per month, and other study-related costs from personal funds. Therefore it is expected to have a bank statement to prove financial availability ( A bank statement will be needed)
How to Apply
Non-EU/EEA citizens can apply for the scholarship during their application to Aalto University. The scholarship application is integrated into the admission form. Only students liable to pay tuition fees at Aalto University can apply for these scholarships.
Scholarship applications must be submitted within the designated application period. It is not possible to apply for a scholarship after this period has ended.

Scholarship Decisions: Scholarships are awarded to the most outstanding applicants based on the admission criteria, as outlined on the admissions website. In Master’s admissions, decisions are made through academic evaluation according to predefined criteria available on the study option’s website. Scholarship decisions are communicated simultaneously with the admission decision and cannot be appealed.
Duration of scholarship
Tuition fee waiver is granted for the normative period of study of this degree program. The normative study period is two (2) years full-time study for master’s degree. Scholarship requires full-time study and studying according to the approved personal study plan.
The 5000 euros scholarship is paid once during the first year of the studies.
About Tuition fees
In Finland, tuition fees are applicable to students who are citizens of countries outside the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), or Switzerland. These fees are specifically for degree programs taught in English.
Who needs to pay tuition fees?
- Most non-EU/EEA citizens have to pay tuition fees for a bachelor’s or master’s degree program taught in English.
Tuition fees waiver
- Individuals who are citizens of a European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) member state, as well as Switzerland, are not required to pay tuition fees for degree studies.
- Holders of specific residence permits issued by the Finnish Immigration Service are also exempt from tuition fees.
- Furthermore, students enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program taught in Finnish or Swedish (with language proficiency requirements) and
- Students pursuing a doctoral program are not subject to tuition fees
Aside from tuition fee waiver scholarships, Aalto University offers incentive-based scholarships to students who are paying either full or partial fees and demonstrate excellent progress in their studies.
To qualify for this scholarship, students must have completed a minimum of 60 ECTS credits of studies as per their approved personal study plan within one academic year.
The incentive-based scholarship amounts to 1,500 euros and is disbursed during the following autumn term or upon graduation, as applicable.
How much is the tuition fee?
The tuition fee for non-EU/EEA citizens in bachelor’s and master’s program taught in English is:
- 12 000 euros per academic year for bachelor’s degree program
Normative duration of bachelor’s degree studies is 3 academic years. - 15 000 euros per academic year for master’s degree program
Normative duration of master’s degree studies is 2 academic years.
